Looking for Civilian Research Submarine Pictures or Plans
« on: June 22, 2012, 06:35:29 am »

  Hello

I have been looking for plans or pictures of civilian research submarines either real or holywood. I would like to try to scratch build one for static r.c use but need ideas. Any pictures or plan sources would be Greatly Appreciated ! I especially like the type used in the movie The Abyss. That style of submarine, if that helps you better understand what I`m after.

Look forward to seeing your replies.

 Thanks
George

https://www.dropbox.com/downloading/

Use dropbox - something like this

put all the files you like in a folder, zip it into a file, drag that into your dropbox and you get a link, just send the link to your mate. No more emailing loads of images.

Dropbox has much bigger uses but not for me - just file swapping. Not done it for a while either.

   Hello Everyone

I want to thank you all for posting these pictures so far. I looked over ALL the pictures and I found one that I`m not sure of the builder, the submarine is; clelia research submersible. The builder siad his is a static diver and it is 3 feet long. If anyone knows the builder and IF possible where plans of OR more pictures of it could be found, That would be great.

Thanks Again to All for Posting and PLEASE keep the Posts Coming.

 Thanks One More Time.

I think the individual you are looking for is the individual who posted #3 and #4 above....   those photos look to be clelia or a clelia clone to me.

Here's mine, originally a Thunder Tiger Neptune (version 3, with uprated and upgraded electronics) and still undergoing modifications. The guard rails are being made by my old mate Andy down in Bristol, they will then support a whole array of floodlamps, searchlights and the video camera.

There is also an alloy grab arm which sits on one side and will be operated by a servo in a watertight housing inside the flood area. Just awaiting the guard rails to finalise the arm's position.

This is the grab arm..

About time someone 'blinged' up a Neptune, looking forward to seeing the end results.

Don't know if you'd be interested, but you'll find plans for the 1961-vintage 'Bathyscaphe d'exploration' 'Archimede' here:
