I think this might to the job. the first list is steel gears the second list is hard steel gears and the last is delrin gears.

http://www.hpcgears.com/newpdf/spurgears_32dp.pdf

you then go to the order form. This company can also customise the gears on request, its based in derbyshire.

Hi John, try asking Ian S. I gave him a box full of gearboxes and delrin gears a while back, he may be able to help you out  :-))

Cheers

HPC make very nice gears and other reduction components, and can supply pretty much anything you want, but be warned the price soon adds up once you factor in custom bore sizing, shipping etc.  If you do go for that option it might be worth looking at a metal or tufnol gear, which will last a long time, the extra cost over a machine cut plastic gear is quite small.

Delrin is the way to go, the main gear is sacrificial... :-))

Speak his name and he doth appear. Are you or your Dad about in the morning ?
I've got a few "Stiddy" gears (thanks again Scoop ;)). Most are 50T, but I've got a used 45T.

Delrin is the way to go, the main gear is sacrificial... :-))

I think it's mostly that way cos delrin (or nylon, and some other plastics) on metal is/are what's known as "self-lubricating" - no external lubrication required. If both gears are metal, it needs constant lubrication. There were some Russian gearboxes with oil baths built into the chassis - so that the lower gear runs in an oil bath.
In a race - where you often can't hear your own engine, a sacrificial gear is often closely followed by sacrificial rod, sacrificial piston, and sacrificial liner.

If you want it self lubricating a tufnol gear will still offer that, but being a composite, and using a thermoset plastic will be a lot stronger than delrin (or any other thermoplastic).

Aren't all your engines sacrificial Ian? ;)

Will be at the lake tomorrow, if it's not sloshing it down I may even bring a boat....

Hi Steve, I'll bring the box of gearbox bits down anyway. The 45 tooth should be almost a dead cert. I've got more of the 50 toothers, but you'd either have to raise the engine or need a smaller driver gear - which I may have amongst the same stuff. If you bring your box of bits down we could size up, but probably best start off like for like, or you'll need to be going up in prop sizes too.
