New Project
« on: July 13, 2012, 08:52:01 pm »

I have started to think about my next project, and it's a toss up between another old classic lifeboat...the 61' Barnett class lifeboat of the 1920's or this boat, which I came accross some years ago, and finally tracked down the full plans set to "the Ballast Trust" in Glasgow.

It is a Tug/tender that was built in 1930 and would in it's life ferry passengers out to ocean liners from Southampton that anchored in the Solent.

What do you guys think.

Both models would be in the 60 - 65 inch loa range so size is about the same.

I'd go for the "Romsey". Loads of lifeboats around...so this one could be quite unique. BY.

The Tug should keep you busy for a while, lots of parts for you to show us how to make! but a reminder....you are noted for Lifeboats!!!! I cant see you entering tug towing competitions either! Mind you I have four Falmouth tugs as well as my lifeboats, but they hardly ever see the light of day.

Hi Neil,

I would be interested in seeing what you achieve with the Romsey.

Surprising, no one trying to 'tug' the other way.  A new Mayhem record perhaps.   O0
She looks an interesting ship.  I look forward to seeing how your new project progresses.

I'll give it some serious thought then, but just in case I have asked Mick, aka Rottweiler to do me some research on one of Padstow's old Barnett..........so will wait and see what the two boats stack up like, against each other.
cheers forall the input.
