I then managed to get hold of an AMPS T4 outboard it came with a nitro OPS race motor i have rebuilt it with double larger bearings milled it out to fit new MOD 1.5 bevel gears its a lot more "beefy" than the old setup then polished the casings to mirror finnish and fitted a 6s brushless motor and managed to hide all the wires

Its fitted with power trim so i can raise and lower the leg on the move to adjust the ride angle and stop porposing , on 6s its fast and handles very well

I remember in the seventies seeing these boats racing at Carr Mill near St Helens, I was a big fan of the JPS race cars, that boat is real real  nice, I would be very proud of that! well done :-))

Nice job Phill looks great  :-)),so much nicer looking than todays modern f1 hulls in my opinion.Ive been toying with the idea of a twin outboard setup on my small cigarett hull.

Hi Phil

Brings back memories. I used to have to go to Oxford from Northampton with my job and used to use the back roads past Silverstone circuit to avoid traffic. In those days you could see more of the circuit from the road because the trees were lower than now.

One magic afternoon on the way home , sun shining and ended up sitting by the side of the road watching the two JP cars practicing round the circuit. Started off as fast lapping , then as with most competative things, they ended up dicing with each other. Sat there for about 1/2 hour just enthralled.

In those days, I think Formula 1 meant more to the public as a spectacle. Since then the "elf and safety" thing has kicked in and the racing seems very processional to me . Also the drivers in those days were much more larger than life characters.  Or is it just my rose tinted spectacle view back to my younger days ?

Anyway , very nice model

Back on topic tho... who did the graphics on your boat? It would be nice to have one to go with my JPS F1 car when I get round to building it

Not mine just an indicator of what it will look like one day lol
