Steve,
if your new boat is NOT submerged drive, then it doesn't need to be 50mm side height.  Surface or semi-surface drives can have any height sides.
If it IS submerged drive, then it is perfectly acceptable to build up part or all of the sides to over the 50mm minimum required.
Ian Folkson 'built up' a Sigma for his 26cc a couple of years ago, and very nice it looked too!  I believe he used balsa wood??

As we try to be as 'inclusive' as possible, so if the boat is not an out and out multi boat, we try and help make it qualify to race.  Multi's have their own well established, highly specialised racing scene, where boats are designed specifically for this type of racing.

Cheers
Danny

Many thanks to Marie, Graham and Tony at King Lear MBC Leicester for all their help in making it a brilliant day at the races for the BMPRS members. Thanks to Danny, Lynda, Mark and Robin for assisting in race control and special thanks to Graham (King Lear MBC) who spent all day in the rescue boat  :-))
Weather was good, a bit overcast but very warm, a few members boats never made it but those that did put on a really good show for the spectators, especially D class  %) :o :-)) :}  %% {-) {-) {-)
Welcome on board to our new junior member Luke who had a run round at lunchtime with his new A class boat, hope to see you racing at Telford.
Also the guys asking about joining BMPRS, the club local to your area is Kingsbury ( www.kwpmbc.co.uk/ ) We hope to see you joining us on the racing circuit next year  :-)) ........hope you enjoyed the racing yesterday and our answers to your questions help you decide which class (or classes) you would like to run next year  :-))

I would have thought that 3rd place on it's first outing (in your hands of course) is a little bit more than "I'm just hoping it runs ok" Nice one Mark  :-)) ;)
