These displays are on show at Dortmund (Apr 9-13 this year). Last year they even had a working combine harvesting 2" high cress as well as earth movers which must shift a couple of hundred kilos during the show.

Some of the prices though make you cringe eg €1000 for an axle with differential.

Still they do look good

Dave Remember I have one of these Scania's 6x4 sat doing nothing Hint hint  {-)
Even has the all the sounds and lights.

The thing is with these are they are all nut and bolt put together so easy to strip back and do it to your own style.
As I said to Ken all Id want is enough to buy my next boat kit from someone like Deans Marine, Bit of a cheek I know but well, if you don't ask you don't get  ok2

I have this horrible feeling that I may have bitten off more than I chew, Ian...these tiny screws/nuts and my fingers don't go together very well.

Hmmm I hadn't thought of that. Have you got or thought about a tiny magnetic socket set? or try rolling a tiny piece of bluetac and stuffing it in the end of the socket, just enough to hold the nut until you get a couple of turns on the thread?

I have a magnetic screwdriver which is my best friend, where I have trouble is tightening the darn things when I've got them in place. I have very little strength left in my wrists/hands...if I shook your hand you won't notice.   :embarrassed:

On a good day I'm reasonably ok...on a bad day I can hardly roll a smoke. But hey ho...I'll get there.

Hi Rich,

Welcome the world of mechanical modeling in miniature. It's really not that bad once you get stuck in.

Whatever you do, I recommend laying out the parts from their bags in order of the assembly manual and sort them into piles   .....   a component box is ideal.   I now have 4 trays full of odd screws, etc, so if in trouble then please ask.

Glad you have a magnetic screwdriver, the box spanner provided is not magnetic, but the nuts do fit inside it nicely and holds them whilst putting into place over the screw thread, which a great help.

Persevere my friend, it will look lovely when finished.    :-))

Cheers

ken

Rich........these Japanese hand held sized drivers range from a thread size of 1.4 to 3.5.......strange nominations?  :o........no...... as they also suit BA hex head sizes

The 10 BA open ender & the corresponding driver also work perfectly with 4AF hex head nuts which is M2 thread size....using these allows for repeatable torque to be applied

Being a conventional six pointed socket also naturally allows for twice the potential pickup points over open enders........

50 years ago we probably thought fried rice was a funny thing  {-)............ Derek

Ken...I did do exactly that, I bought myself a fancy fishing tackle organiser box, and sorted everything into that, complete with labels telling me exactly what's what. I find very easy to identify parts from the list as and when they are needed, instead of hunting through bags, normally accompanied by much bad language. And I haven't knocked it flying yet!

DW_D...those tools look very useful, I shall hunt eBay tomorrow to see if I can find them. Thanks for that.

As I've said before, my problem is in my wrists and hands...sometimes I can't even get a turn on a nut, my fingers don't cooperate, and at times the pain in my wrists gets really bad, bad enough that rolling a smoke is impossible and I have to go to tailor made ones. It's one of those things, I guess...it was worse when I was building subs, opening up flood holes and slots in a fibreglass hull became impossible for me.

But one way or another, I intend to press on and build my truck...I will not be beaten.

Cheers guys,

Rich....here is the link to the DK-04 series nut runners.........prices range dramatically....

For better or worse  >:-o ...I have installed a number of steam flanges which are secured with M2 brass bolts & nuts........I find the smallest driver invaluable in the assembly & dis-assembly..Derek

Socket head cap screws and grubscrews make good nut runners.

Thanks Ned and Ian...it won't matter what tools I use, I haven't the strength left in my wrists/hands to enable me to turn the perishin' things. I bought a nice fancy cross headed screwdriver, thought  'here we go now...'  that failed. Miserably...

There's two screws with lock nuts on the front spring shackles...do you think I can tighten them up? Can I heck as like...the language has been awful this morning. Good thing I don't live anywhere near a nunnery...

I did try adding an extension to the handles on both a screwdriver and a box spanner to achieve the same idea...it may have increased the leverage, but I still can't turn the damned things!   <:(

What I need is a tame twenty stone truck fitter with double jointed miniature hands and fingers who will work for peanuts. One peanut a day should be ample... ;)
