Now that is a nice small lorry with lots of conversion potential.

Oh yes...at the moment I'm still sort of toying with the idea of building a drawbar for it, and going back to my original idea of a dog n' pup.

I built the van in the early days when the electrics would have been able to fit in the back.    {-)

Seems you're like me in that we can see the development potential for a different models, going purely on the wheel bases and shapes. I am quietly designing and working out the gear for my next model as I speak.   %)

My days are full at the moment with a contract build of another fire engine for a client, but one has to think of what next !

Cheers

Sadly I do not have money to do RC trucks as well as ships and wargaming otherwise I would have a go at some conversions.

I am pleased that you have some commission work coming in to help fund your Model lorries etc :}

Anyone working on Tamiya trucks these days. ?

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on this front but I am beavering away on my latest scratch build.  I'm trying to copy the giant 12 wheeler turntable fire engine by using pictures from the web.  It is turning into a monster build and I am keeping a financial record of my progress.  (horrifying so far ! )

Progress is slow as the thinking has to come down to my level these days.   %)    I will put up some pictures later.

cheers

In the process of renovating a Mercedes 1838 that I purchased second hand.  Equipping it with a Beier System so taking a lot more time.

I'm still up to my ears in my Merc, Ken...the actual truck is done and working, the pup is well under construction, and I also have a tipper body for it. Four screws, and I can swap bodies in less than a minute.

I'll get some photos up soon.

Glad to see you're still cracking on...keep that financial record hidden  ;D

Sorry it's a terrible picture, Ken...my phone has never been the same since I managed to spray the camera lens.  <:(

Anyway, this is the dog n' pup so far...the pup is going onto a modified Tamiya pole trailer.

Very nice, Rich.  Sort of  'asking'  for transfers now.   :}

I've heard of the Bier system computer system, Captain.   It's supposed to be superior to the Tamiya computer.  You must let us know how you get on.

Here are a few pictures of the Turntable engine build so far.  I have extended the chassis of the Scania and added an extra set of steering wheels.  The original cabin will be retained but all the rest has to be scratch built.

Thanks for the kind words, ballastankian...we're getting there with it.

Ken, that's a hell of a build you've taken on...I don't envy you that. Superb workmanship as usual though...

And here's a better photo of the dog n' pup. The pole trailer should be here tomorrow, as should the new sides for pup's body. And as for 'transfers'....they are being custom made for me. Should be a pic below...LORICH UK-EUROPEAN LOGISTICS. (LORICH being a play on words...Lori is a shortened version of Lorraine, RICH is a shortened version of me)

The truck cab will be sprayed a pale blue, body edges in dark blue, and the main panels left white.

.

Here's a picture of my last Fire engine and before that the stagecoach bus that I built.

These all started out as the Tamiya truck chassis and were highly modified and altered.   The information and details all taken from photographs and scaled to suit.

I bet the ladders took as long as the scratch built body Ken! Both look great as will T888's Dowg and Pup and your new appliance.

How did you make the windscreen for the Bus? I do not recall seeing your method though I am sure you did tell us. I will go back and have a read.....

The ladders were indeed a challenge.  Aluminium was from Wicks at 10 pound a strip and a jig was made to position the holes.  The rungs are ally bars hammered and press fitted into the sides.  Now I have the technique I was able to make further ladders for the latest engine.  These are twice as long.   %)

The window  'pane'  was constructed from 2mm clear plastic heated over a draw bar in the vice and pulled around to the correct angle and held whilst cooling.   This was actually the third version as  'practice'  took up the first attempts  !

cheers
