My latest project is building the Eddie Stobart giant rig.

I am using a Tamiya Scania 620 as the truck and a Hobby trailer.  I had to write to the company to get permission to build it as long as it was not for commercial reasons.  It seem they are not keen on anyone knocking them out, as it were.  Sourcing the transfers took some time but today I managed to fit some of them to the trailer.

Here's a snap shot of the current state of play.

That will get the Stobart fans excited. It looks like it will end up a top truck.

Took my truck to a party last weekend and joined other club members driving around the hall.

I have made a YouTube film of the construction and it can be seen here ....

Thanks fellas. It was a challenge indeed.  I had to get permission in the first place from the company, so it all went well.

I like your title printing Derrek , very impressive.  Mine came from a man who knows a man  !!!

Ken....the raised printing is straight from our page

Type the word then embolden, then italic, then change the font size, then change the colour, then hit that G button

Latest news from the London Stock Exchange Churchill Transport Pty.Ltd has purchased the Eddie Stobart transport Group for 452 Million UK Pounds

Dave

Hi Dave,

They came from the black market and have to remain hush hush.   The costs , by the way,  were over £50.  They are made from plastic with a sticky back and took some fitting to get it right.   :}

You could take a look at the Servonaut range when it comes to the electronics - they are less expensive than Tamiya and can be bought as small individual modules to take up less space in the cab

I have used the S22 speed controller, the SM3 sound system and the ML4 light system on my trucks.  They work far better than the expensive Tamiya alternative but do not offer the vibrating cab feature that Tamiya has.

Servonaut also offer a speed controller with cruise control - this takes driving your r/c truck to a whole new level!!!!

You can see them on rcmodeltrucks.co.uk.  I bought mine from www.kingcobra.co.uk but Rossendale Models stocks them as well and delivered mine "next day".

Thank you for your interest zooma.    :-))

I have bookmarked the site as I've not seen this one before.  I have the driving electronics fitted so only need the lighting system.  I haven't done any more to the truck lately and it's just sitting on the shelf.  There is a TV program running at the moment on the Stobart trucks which is quite interesting.  They seem to have their hands in a lot of pies !.   Might have a go on the new Blue range of trucks one day.

I am doing a bit of Boat making at the moment but have promised myself I will return to the trucks later.

Cheers,

Here is the link to the lighting set I bought from Rossendale Models.

http://www.rcmodeltrucks.co.uk/store/servonaut-ml4-small-electrical-light-set-for-truck-models.html

I use the left hand throttle stick on my radio to operate the lights by moving it to the left and briefly hold position to turn on the lights.  Repeat the movement for a second time to activate main beam and spot lights etc and a third time to switch them off.

Moving the stick unit to the right and briefly holding it turns on the hazard warning lights and these will run until the operation is repeated to turn them off.

Jut blipping the stick to the left will turn on the left hand indicators for half a dozen flashes or so - enough to make the turn and the same movement to the right activates the right hand indicators in the same way.

I have this ML4 unit fitted to several of my trucks and they all work very well.  The German quality is very good and I think the price is good too.

That's a good price.  It sounds like it does the job.

Thank for the info.  I have bookmarked the site and will be back there later.

Hi Ken,

You may recall that we had a conflab about making classic truck cabs to fit onto lorry chassis.

I found these guys last night when looking for drawings of a TK Bedford cab. They are just starting out but do Bedford TK, TM and Volvo F88 and ERF B series cab kits as well as the Servonaut range.

Here is their web address: http://www.milford-models.co.uk/
