Hi all,
A great show - beautiful models - a good variety of trade stands. Many thanks to the organisers.

Well it was really nice to meet Ken at last. The show was certainly well supported and I got everything except a compass cutter (sold out). The nice gent by the door gave me some litho plate too.  :embarrassed: I had to exit the grass a certain way and that just forced me to go the wrong way around - my apologies to those other motorists. Friendly types - they all waved at me  O0

Still working through the photos..... ( I try to take a photo of every boat at the show... which always seems like a good idea at the show!  )  %%

This was usual, anyone know anything about her or her class?

What are all the fitting around the gun?

I believe those would be action-ready ammunition for the gun.  Early TBDs and Destroyers often had ready shells handy when cleared for action.

Those of you who went to Warwick must have noticed the Classic Ship model stand which was selling Chinese made static models at several hundred pounds or more each. I just wonder if they made any sales. They were very nice examples but maybe they were at the wrong show where most visitors are interested in constructing their own rather than buying completed models.

I was quite tempted by the smaller resin 1:1250 models which I collect but on close examination I felt they were not quite up to the standard I would have liked.

Well done Martin! The larger cased models are indeed very good and would make an attractive buy if you have a connection with the original vessel.

Still, you can see why people are put off scratch building!

Yes I saw that stand. At first I thought very nice but upon closer examination. He had a model there for £2000+ there was paint blobs glue marks paint drips on the hand rails. VERY VERY poor if you are asking £2000+
As for the 1:1250 models very poor.ok the price was from £20 but I would rater may more and get quailty saying that his Queen Mary was so poor it made the Triang version like Muesum qualty. i dought if he did  much business.

Yes, that Queen Mary was not good at all. I was interested in the Empress of Japan at £43 painted but the coloured squares on the funnels were too big. I thought I might paint the funnels buff but on looking closely at the model the portholes along the sides were not well defined. Scherbak can get very fine definition from resin but they are very expensive and only do modern ugly cruise ships at around £200. Otherwise white metal is usually the better option.

Well thats the show over.It was my first time there, and I must say I have come away most impressed. There really were some superb models on display. What a friendly lot of people as well! I made a few more acquaintences, and shared a few stories, and cakes also! Thanks to everyone concerned, who made it such a success, organisers as well as exhibitors.I hope I can come again next year.Perhaps the rivallry over the great cake giveaway will get even more competetive!
The only comment I can make further,is that 45 minutes after the show closed is  "where did it all go?"
Good fun,
Thanks,

i would just like to say that i fully understand the distinguised member getting upset about the hijacking of this thread with rediculous comments about cake. totally unnecessary and not at all on subject this is meant to be about a boat show. to redress the balance as it were here are some nice revues from the saturday from the a team boatyard team team thingy.
first of all was franks steak burger.

this one is the gammon and egg alan destroyed. you can see he's had a few too many of these lately

this one is the fish and chips chris had my second choice

rather nice steak paul and son adam had. not one my favorites but adam massacred this is very short order so assume rather nice

finally have to show the very yummy scampi and chips that myself and the suave pete had. very nice always my first choice

just to finish off adams side order of onion rings. not really a meal i know but excellent.

would have posted pictures of our puddings but involved quite a large amount of chocolate fudge naughty word. some with cream some with ice cream.

hope you enjoyed my non cake posting. cake is the spawn of the devil and don't you all forget it.

phil (atboatyard) (i'm the serious cake hating one)

A great show, lots of variety, tea cakes, chocolate cakes, bakewell tarts and of course best in show Deb's Bread Pudding
I do belive there were some boats there too...... {-) {-) {-)
No really some very fine models and good club stands, congrats to King Lear for winning the best club stand (I voted for you)
Now at home time to start finishing the boat I got from Vintage models (plus a few fittings for the fire boat) not to mention all the bits and bobs from Mac's Mouldings (he who now has the £20 note) that need to go onto Steph's fishing boat......
Still I have until mayhem to finish it..(unless she tells me different) <*<
Good to meet up with all the Mayhemers

Guys, this subject was funny once and no doubt will be for years to come to those few that partake.

I and several others who use this forum are a bit brassed of with this old chestnut. When I look into Warwick show postings I hope to see Martin,s excellent pictures. He always manages to capture the stuff I seem to miss at the shows.

It is beginning to seem more than a bit cliquey on here.Is it not supposed to be the biggest virtual boat club open to all or are we non "cake club" members getting in the way.

Sorry if you don't like it but that's my opinion .I do not intend to offend anyone but if you want to carry on this cake love-in together get a room!!
