Brits: Are justifiably proud of the accomplishments of their past citizens.
Americans: Are justifiably proud of the accomplishments of their present citizens.
Canadians: Prattle on about how some of those great Americans were once Canadian.
Aussies: Waffle on about how some of their past citizens were once Outlaw Pommies, but none of that matters after several dozen beers I guess !

Unfortunately, even though the title of the "Locked" post was infact politically biased, it took 49 postings for the "Moderater" to moderate and decide that it was against the rules of the forum

The moderators do not sit in front of their PCs 24/7, and sometimes many posts are made before one of us spots a problem and acts on it, if he thinks it necessary. The main thing is that action was taken, and the offending topic locked.

What remains then is some very strong objections to Chit Chat itself causing Martin to mention closure. Not objections from  Martin or the Moderators - I am talking about from ordinary members ................ as I asked earlier -

Everyone on here either builds, sails or both so why does it upset anyone where another member chooses to post if the posts are respectful?

Hi Peter as I said earlier on ............. I'm not out for mischief so I have simply left behind the moderation question - but I have asked the above question several times - but so far no one has said here specifically why any members respectful posts on Chit Chat could be upsetting them in any way. I want to keep offensive posts out of this  because I am against them too.

I think it is another question I will have to give up asking.

Regards Dave

Ah,food again, a subject close to my heart (and belly). Here we go then, Sundays, some sort of roasted farmyard animal, Fridays, Jerk Chicken or Crispy Chilli Chicken,  Saturdays, enormous sandwiches made from 'Tiger Tail' french sticks containing 90% of whats on offer at the deli counter, Wednesdays, pie, home made, contents to be decided whilst in the supermarket, Thursday, beef stew and dumplings. The rest of the week, curry (fire brigade in attendance), home made fish cakes, pork steaks with apple sauce and mature cheddar, the list go's on.  Bacon butties feature regularly as snacks, especially during all night model boat building sessions. I may, should there be interest, post my pictorial instructions on how to make the perfect bacon wad in the 'build' section. :-)) :-)) :-))

My diet varies enormously; Marstons Pedigree, Sam Smiths Best, Courage Directors, Jack Daniels, any good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc - in fact I'll eat almost anything, straight from the bottle.

Dave,

It is still afloat.

No matter how reasonable or presentable the commentary there will always be someone who will press the report to moderator button.
