Hi you lot,
It turns out that if Yorkshire was a country it would rank 11th in Olympic medals :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) .I there fore  propose that Yorkshire declares Independence from all lesser mortals in the land,so that our true humility and brilliance will not be cramped .Who will second my motion in this historic/hysteric quest.

Finding a tug to tow it away to sea could be a major problem, but if you promise to give me a cabinet post in your new government I would be glad to donate to the cost, Mick B.

It is over 50 years ago that I put forward that Yorkshire could and should have declared Independence within the UK. We had more coal, steel making, heavy industry, hard workers, common sense, athletics, etc.etc. You name it, if it came to grafters and expertise we had it in shovel full's more than anywhere else in the world.
I proposed that we should become 'The Grand Dutchy of Yorkshire'. A bit like Luxembourg.
No one listened then, and I doubt they will now, but if Scotland can do it, why not Yorkshire?
If we are not allowed, then I think we should stick by our motto:- Hear all, see all and say nowt. Eat all, sup all and pay nowt and if tha' does owt for nowt, do it for this'en.
Then lets see how the rest get on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a shame that the county which gave us Yorkshire pudding, Sam Smith's, Captain Cook, my Dad and my Dad-in-Law and  Last of the Summer Wine also gave birth to Geoffrey Boycott.
Still, no b*gg*r's perfect, eh?

Who are you calling a southerner? Me??!! Last time I looked, Doncaster was still over the border in God's Country, don't you no? Anyroad, there's a list as long as your arm of good things to come out of Yorkshire. I can't include every cricketer who ever played for the county (apart from "Sir" Geoffrey Borecott), you no; there'd be know space left.

I have nothing against Yorkshire but since they cut the toll on the Humber bridge they seem to have cut the heating also , went up there early in May for the model-makers holiday and I have never been so cold in my life.

I personally have no problem with ' people of foreign origin', ie   non Yorkies, using the Humber Bridge but a la Severn Crossing, maybe they should have a levy imposed on them should they wish to return to civilisation ?

Well, Younger at 70, enjoy it while you can once border controlls are in place any one coming over the Humber  and the Pennines will have to show there passport and pass through home land security.
All countries need a patron saint i  can think of no one better than Bernard Manning,a more unassuming and kind hearted person  and a role model to  all  (Yorkshire) men>
Did you also know that we have our own airline ,see  the advert for Yorkshire Airlines on u tube.

Did you also know that we have our own airline

Used to have one,  flew out of Yeadon, OK Leeds Bradford called "Capital Airlines".

Was on the last flight the day before they announced they'd gone bust.

Took off from Jersey, landed in Guernsey.

Took off from Guernsey, landed in Cardiff.

Took off from Cardiff, Landed in LBA international.

Interesting to say the least, never knew how much Castrol "R" a turbo-prop used.
