hi,

took these pictures of cable enterprise starting, to lay miles of cable of north wales coast for another 200 plus wind turbines.
on top of the 100 plus we allready have costing millions. they have so far layed cable from pensarn to St Asaph about 8miles away and now 5 miles of the coast
about to be layed.

Thanks for the pictures David. I was sort of expecting big reels/cable drums - interesting ship though.

The cable was manufactured in Wrexham, N Wales.


This cable being laid will go to the East Substation which will be 22 kilometers of cable and will take about 16 days. After this CABLE ENTERPRISE will go to Liverpool for bunkers and will then return to Pensarn to lay the second cable another 16 days. After bunkers again she will return to Pensarn two more times to lay the 18 kilometre cables to the West substation.

Was doing trials off Peterlee for weeks and weeks and in and out of the Tees.

Then went back to Holland and then to Wales so it seems.

Dave,

cable is in the big blue cage, so it is coiled down but onto the deck horizantally rather than perhaps the vertial reels you were probably expecting. This is the usual way of storing great lengths of cable on cable laying vessels. Oh and its just a barge not a ship.  {-)
