Have to be really passionate to pay so much and value is in the eye of the beholder and the well informed. I wouldn't know if the price is good or bad but watching to see the final bid  :-)
It would look nice on my sideboard but if I put everything on display I'd have to live in the back yard  {-)

What's the big coupling / bearing thing at the back Phil?

You have the coupling between the engine and prop shaft and the main bit just before the prop is a representative of a thrust bearing (normally encased)  :-))
Price at the moment is just about on the money

My cousin in UK will be pleased at the price.
His father built this Stuart Turner triple expansion engine on a treadle lathe in the 1930's.  :-))

Yes, very nice...5,000... hmmmm!

As TheLongBuild says, he'll probably get that in the right auction house.

Thought it looked familiar , it is marked up a being attached to the Blackpool & Fylde MBC , so have seen it many times on display at various shows they have attended.

Could have dressed the crew correctly.
Yachties wore white gym shoes on board.
Normal footwear made too much noise :embarrassed:

New old tug from eBay
« Reply #165 on: March 31, 2019, 08:49:07 PM »

Hi ,all.
I`ve just been told that I got a good deal on eBay. Apparently it is an Aquacraft Atlantic ( see photo 1,2 and 3) and for only 40 :-) . New ones seem to go for 200 upwards.
i got it to use as a project and would like some suggestions to make it more life like.
One suggestion was to lower  pilot house and main cabin by 1/2 inch each, as it seems too high. Plus maybe some decking as in the last pics.

I don't wish to hijack the thread but I have a question. How do you keep your steam boats looking so clean?

Wish I knew too.
The last 3 pics are someones boat to show example of what has been done to a tug the same as the one I bought in the first 3 pics.
But they are very clean and I hops I can do half as good.

It's gone to a good home - if anybody wants a look at it, a trip to Leith is needed.

I imagined this model of Britannia may have gone to the Royal Household.......or possibly they already have the original Builders model? %)

They probably do have the original builders model, but that will be according to the drawings - Ray spotted a few discrepancies when visiting the real thing and corrected them on his model.  The sad part is that the museum did not want a working model, so the non-decorative bits were removed, so it will now be a shelf Queen rather than a sailing boat.  Come to think of it, a lot like the real one.
