If anyone fancies restoring a Graupner Glasgow paddle tug, this looks a snip. Other boats included in the collection.

Thanks, last few I saw folk wanted as much as 150.  Not an impulse buyer these days but bagged it for future use somewhere, maybe in a dozer tug.  Formatting on this site is a mess, hope this shows up properly now.

KAOWOOL ceramic fiber proprietary cladding/sheeting is capable of being bent around such item diameters and has the visual appearance of the material shown

If it were raw asbestos material, the engine bay would be covered in white dust %)

Derek
Would there be dust if it's not been disturbed or cleaned recently?  Asbestos training tickets in the UK are a little frightening:  ACM's literally everywhere here still, mosty harmless as long as they're not disturbed, but a potential nightmare to handle.  You are told explicitly the only way to tell for sure is to have a sample tested and regardless of looks it may be perfectly OK.  This guy seems to have lots of niche listings the last few months though.  Too expensive for my tastes though.

I used the word 'raw'  [asbestos]......if the sheeting were of that material and untreated, it would have degraded in air over time......cleaning with a vacuum cleaner brush would raise more long chained fibers....

The material displays a clean surface

[The aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney [ex - HMS Majestic?] arrester and steam catapult gear was wrapped in loose asbestos.....workers in green overalls returned after a few hours looking like white snowman]

[I acknowledge you cautionary comments, and the sale spiel {1950's & storage etc}]

:o :o :o I emailed the guy to tell his buy-it-now price is way wrong.

I tried suggesting to a seller not that long ago they were confusing their discontinued kit with a much cheaper one currently available, perhaps mis-titling their ad. and losing out on a real gem.  They replied saying summit like "just saying what it says on the box" which it absolutely wasn't according to the pictures and pt. no.s quoted.  I thought from the response they sounded a bit like scammers, unless they genuinely couldn't read the obvious name on the box lid, part numbers, or google the pictures and genuinely wanted 4-5x less than it was honestly worth under the correct name!  Strangely, I also suggested to someone else they didn't have a "Dusseldorf Fireboat" but a set of mouldings for an  "Orkney Express", they were quite happy it was the fireboat.  I'd have just bought it now for silly cheap, but didn't have the space for an Orkney Express, and, well, it would just have been morally wrong for what they wanted for it.  I don't think I'd hesitate again though!

uug, edited 4 times and tried different things.  Whats wrong with forum formatting today?  It's all screwy?

Kaowool and other mineral wools were not commercially available until 1953, so a long time after this boat was built

[/size]Does the UK have any Laws relating to the advertising of the sale of products or items containing such materials 'in the state as displayed'?

Now that one I didn't know, so off to google I went. From the HSE wedsite:

Can I sell an item that contains asbestos?  No. It is illegal to supply any article containing asbestos, whether for money, or free of charge.
Oddly, eBay do not include asbestos on their prohibited items list. You also aren't allowed to post it.

Hi all what about this 'bargain' only 700!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hand-Built-Vintage-1960s-Gypsy-Moth-Chichester-Pond-Yacht-Boat-for-Restoration/173130074418?hash=item284f5b4932:g:m6cAAOSwPkJacJXV

Regards Roy

LoL, unless I'm corrected that's actually quite a proper advert but me being skeptical, all I see ref the asking price is that it's priced as a keeper (sory luv, I tried and it didn't sell and I'm not chucking it!).

Erm 700 for a pond  yacht not sure if is really for sale or another failure of "care in the community" but best of luck to the seller.
