« on: August 09, 2012, 10:58:15 pm »

Just a quick question, maybe silly,.
Does the receiver for a 2.4 transmitter have to be the same make or can you mix and ma :embarrassed like the old fm / am sets ?

OK.   A quick answer.

Yes.        This is because of their designs and operating sequences.

Hope this helps

Sure does. I was looking to buy a new 2.4 radio or 2nd hand one, but did`nt want to get stuck with cheaper one where the recievers were too expensive.
Thanks

Kenny is almost right - but it is possible to buy compatible receivers for both Spektrum DSM2 and Futaba.

Im not sure what you mean by cheap sets cost a lot for extra recs. Radio link, Planet etc all have cheap extra recs. It is the more expensive sets like Futuba that cost a lot for extra recs. Always ask before buying. John.

I'm pretty sure the cheapest 2.4ghz receivers are the Orange models which are compatible with Spektrum DSM2 kit. Well under a fiver for a six channel receiver.

I use Spektrum and Corona equipment, the latter is used on retrofitted radio sets. The Corona receivers are about twice the price, but come in 4 and 8 channel versions. Still cheap at well under a tenner. I guess the price differential is only likely to be an issue of you have a ton of models to fit out.

Sorry to drop in on this thread but I have now come up with a question for those who would know
I run multi models on my 40MHz Futaba tx (all the rec) have the same Xtail freq so I can just turn on which ever model and set the transmitter to that saved settings.
So here is the question
Can I get three of my models to be on 2.4 and use the same transmitter ? would I need to 'bind' to each model each time or once the rec is bound when it is turned on it would work.

If I took three models to the lake all with 2.4 rec and my one 2.4 trans could I just run one until battery dies then turn off that model and the TX then turn on the TX and the next model, would I need to bind this model again?

I dont want to take several TX's as well as models to the lake (I only have one pair of arms)

you can bind as many receivers to a 2.4 transmitter as you want. you only have to bind the receiver to the tx once, then you can swap between models just as you do with your current set up  :-))

You can bind as many compatible 2.4 receivers as you wish to a single transmitter and with one of these programmable types, each boat can have it's own settings -
