Amerigo Vespucci
« on: August 10, 2012, 08:14:07 pm »

The three-masted Italian sail training ship Amerigo Vespucci is in Portsmouth Dockyard this weekend and is open to the public on Sat and Sun 1000-1600. Admission is free. If you can make it the ship is a pleasure to see.

I saw it today from the IoW ferry and from the Hard. Warrior made quite a sight with another square rigger behind her.

Thought this might be of interest, I took the photograph when she visited last time in 1991/2, when I was working in the Semaphore tower in Pompey Naval Base, when she was berthing on South Railway Jetty.

This was her in Palamos, on the Costa Brava in June, 2010.
She did actually put some sails up as she departed...eventually.
