Indeed it is value for money, I haven't started building yet, how was the base and cylinder base blackened? I have experimented with Carrs chemical blacking for aluminium, without success, luckily I tried it on several different pieces of scrap first, so I haven't spoiled the castings.
Regards,
Nick.

Hi there, I have just noticed your cylinder heads, have you made them yourself? Mine are just plain aluminium discs.

Nick. :-)) :-)) :-))

First test run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfcpBbFvZ7w
I have noticed that the flame goes out when I open up the steam valve :embarrassed: .
I think this is due to the steam outlet which exits at the base of the funnel any advice would be welcome.

Good job! Try and avoid running your engine at high speed without a load ( eg, Prop in water ) When I first ran mine I did exactly that and a bolt worked loose from the valve gear, also not recommended by manufacturer. Now that I have fitted a feed pump, which in effect has provided a load, she runs a lot smoother at speed.  I have not had any problems with the burner going out, do you have the gas fully on? I like the drain cock on the oil separator, easier than messing about with syringes or rivets in silicone tubing.
Keep up the good work,
Regards,
Nick. :-)) :-)) :-))

I know about the load issue just could not resist :embarrassed: .
Happy its running I can now pass it on to my friend {once I sort the blow out issue).

Does the exhaust pipe go nearly to the top of the chimney, or does it end just inside?

Ah, that may be the problem, the exhaust on both my Maccsteam boilers ends about 1/4 below the top of the chimney. It is possible that some of the exhaust steam is going in the wrong direction and putting the burner out. Just a thought. try joining a bit of copper pipe  with some silicone tube to extend the exhaust and test the theory.
Regards,
Nick.
