WELL !

You are quite busy with Modle Slipway products !

I know where to look for expert example now.

Your Maggie M. is so good I am experiencing a high gravity towards getting one though I rather have my hands full right now....

Hi Tim,

The Maggie M s a lovely boat to look at and build.

As for this one, its my Dads build. He has only just registered here on mayhem this afternoon and I offered to start his thread off for him. I think the thoughts of catching up with his build in thread form was putting him off. So I pushed him in at the deep end so to speak !! Once his membership is approved by the Admins, he plans to keep this thread up to date with his progress and answer any questions about the first 4 posts of pictures.

Hi All, this is me Duckie!.
New on this site but been modelling for about 6 years, my preferred kits are Model Slipway of which this one "Our  lass 11" is my 4th. Have tried others kits and my first was the Robbe Comtess'e which has been signed over to RJR, also made the Graupner  "Micro Magic" and Riverside Models. "Narra Boat" , 53inch version.
So hope to get involved with the forum as soon as I get the idea of the  system here.

Now I know how the early sailors felt after being shangied, didn't really mind though, as I've been thinking about joining for some time, didn't think I was experienced enough to voice any opinion though, still I might be able to help if I've built something and someone needs assistance on a part I've already done.

Missed this part off in the initial posting of progress so far, net drums finished.

End stands looked a bit bare so added a few refinements and piping only needs piping to ceiling now when installed in net deck area.
Painted and now on to the next section when I get home from holidays.

Back to Manchester to-morrow, holiday with RJR and family nearly over, we had a good day out yesterday in Dundee at the "Discovery ship Centre and got plenty of pix's for the Club Blog showing the various sections of the ship.
Should be abell to get moving on the OL2 build once home and the household chores are done!. I know that's the wrong way to spell able, but it's my mate Bob's surname and we always spell it that way.

Ps I met "The long build" at Colwyn Bay regatta and he might remember me telling him that the masts on the "Great Eastern" were named after days of the week, the guy with the Tilley hat on, No not silly hat, Tilley Hat!

Yes Bob, back home again, will be popping round to see you and your progress on the Glasgow, as soon as I've got myself straightened out with the unpacking and washing.

On the modelling front I'd not felt up to it with all the house work after the holiday, but yesterday finally cut the aluminium plate for the motor mount and fixed the mount to the plate with 6BA nuts and bolts so that I can adjust the mount up or down, and hopefully the aluminium plate will act as a heat sink.

Placed in the boat just have to drill holes to fix to supports now, but its a nice day again and you have to get out whilst you can don't you Summer nearly over and we haven't had much here in Manchester yet!.

Will be a bit more active now back in the saddle again.

After being out and about the last few weeks in the decent weather it's finally broken and so decided it was time to do a bit more on the OL2
Can't do much more topside until I've got the motor in and fixed.
First I've drilled the holes to fix the Mount plate to the hull and wired up the motor.

Then I decided it was time to put in the prop, I'd got a boss from another model I'd not used so that went on too, looks nicer don't you think.?.

I greased the propshaft first!, yes it does come out for maintainance though a tight fit, just needs a bit of bending,(Only kidding! Honestly)
Then before I screwed in the motor unit I've varnished all the mahogany woodwork inside the hull.

That front box is for more possible weights, as well as the side boxes.

Now waiting for the varnish to dry, and the dog's sat here cross legged so more to follow soon.
See what the weather brings to-morrow.

That's all folk's

Been a busy week helping John with his 1.1 modelling (job) but managed to get the under supports for the deck on the boat fitted and fixed in.

Frame work made up

Fitted into deck.

Glued in

The finished item.
Thought I'd better make a start on the deck as it's time to fix the motor in and then it's the job of fixing the deck down.
Hope to get the deck fixed in to-morrow, If the weather isn't right for going out that is!.

Yesterday after feeling a bit better with the cold and cough I decided that it was time to do a bit more on the boat!.
So I've fixed the motor mount down so that is done at last!.

Fitted a shim under the aluminium  mount as an extra bit of quick adjustment, but the shaft seems to be in line and runs well.
Then it was decision time, do I stick the deck down using the usual smelly stuff with the cough still lingering, then thought what the hell, so donned a mask and put the boat on a stand that I could get all the way round for the taping up.

And there you have it, finally got the deck on, now just wants the edges rubbing down and a bit of filler to cover any defects on the edges.
To-day (with a mask on) will do the rubbing down, so I can then get on with some more upper deck jobs.
For those of you that didn't see the hull when I got it out of the box here is an aaahh picture,

RJR missed this picture when he started me off on this tread, had to get started quick before the hound claimed it for his bed!.

Not just yet with the wheelhouse RJR.
Yesterday I fillered and rubbed down the deck,

And as you can see the inspectors are all over it checking for imperfections, but anything they find will be sorted out using filler/primer when the filler and sanding is finished. then I will have to see about the filler/primer all over, then start on the wheelhouse!.

This week I've done a bit more on the OL2 ie
Namely the construction of the wheelhouse sides

Sides built on the wheelhouse floor, have to make sure it doesn't get stuck to the deck, tacked first and then done properly off the deck!.

Front a bit tricky, and as you will see the top insert is a bit too big, but after a bit of a trim, sits nicely into place

And here is the finished article.

Then it was the exhaust and vent trucking to add, nearly missed the instruction, to add the small box on top of the main roof!!. not at this stage!.
Then it was on to the main roof.

It was at this stage I was not sure what the plans were saying so on Sunday took the pieces and instructions to RJR's house as he is a time served Draughtsman and he had a look and said my thoughts were correct. It was still a job for two pair of hands though, so I held the parts in position whilst he ran some Polyweld round the joints. Much easier with two people, as all the parts are overlapping and not very easy to tape up with the curved front and all.

Then it was home to add the nav light boxes.

And here is the nearly finished wheelhouse, and you can just see the top of the exhaust vent at the back of the roof where it should be!.
Well that's all folk's, perhaps not in the sequence in the instruction manual, but it's where the mood takes me on the day, but its getting there.

Well that's it for now.
