Imperial German Navy Torpedo Boat
« on: September 09, 2012, 07:50:51 pm »

At the Glasgow Richmond Charity sail last week and very impressed by this Imperial German Navy Torpedo Boat by Steve Pickering. Hope I'm not posting TOO many pictures. Have also included video. Steve told me that he is producing the hull and fittings commercially. Not sure if I am breaking forum rules, Moderators will sort me out I'm sure if I am, but his email is chyldshallmodelshipyard@gmail.com. I think this is only the second time I have met Steve and I have no vested interest. It IS a beautiful model.

The original boats were ordered by Royal Dutch Navy from Vulcan but were pressed into Imperial German Navy service on the outbreak of hostilities.

Looks like a very nice model, I don't suppose you happen to know what smoke units he was using? The smoke looks better than most! Be interesting if it does become available as a kit.

Sorry. Don't know what the smoke units were. Agree that they were impressive and think that they were switchable.

Smashing model!

There's a nice card model of V108 available for free download.

Handsome craft and I agree it is most menacing in black or very dark gray. I like the clear plastic rudder enhancement.  :-))

Model is by Steve Pickering and is to 1:48 scale. Look forward to seeing B98 which should look impressive at 1/72 scale.

Very nice  :-)). The rudder enlargement must make quite a bit of difference in the turning radius.

There's an article by Steve in Sept MB on his amazing scale sail models. It is all very depressing as his models are so good.
