  Hi chaps any ideas on how to set up the hanging lifelines along the sides of a 1:16 scale model of a Rother.
The lines I have are all over the place and do not hang correctly. Some loops stick out like ears on the preverbial oinker!. Can you soak them in PVA or something to have them hang properly.?

Yes, Rayna...............an easy one this if you follow the following steps.........

Rope has a twist to it, and is usually a "right hand" twist.......meaning that if you put it on to the boat the wrong way it will twist all over............start at the stern, port side and work forward, and then as you do the starboard side, start from the bow and work towards the stern (basically in a clockwise movement, the same way as the twist of the rope goes)....then if you want to hold the rope in a nice loop, use some bees wax or similar to impregnate and hold it in that position ( best to melt it a little first and apply between fingers.

Dilute PVA or Aliphatic glue works too.

forgot to add rayna......that you cut  a length of cord a little more than you would need, and then from the stern portside you put the end of the rope that has just been cut to the first bracket............(not the original end)...................this then totally elliviates any twist to the rope

 yet another very useful piece of information Neil! only trouble is, I have got 10 Lifeboats that all need doing this winter! Hope I can still get the old fashioned builders plumb line still,rather than the nylon type that is now being used.
