What a fantastic model you have made - I doubt that mine now under construction will be anything like that good - anyway thanks for the detailed information which we can all use  Stuart Hunkin Cornwall

Anybody can do this Stuart. Rocket science it aint!!!   Just take your time and break the process down to simple steps i.e stick rod A to square B then stick to side of boat etc........... Above all else remember its YOUR BOAT, if you are happy with it then sod the rest of the world. If they say it should be done a different way then let them build one for themselves.  {-)

Had a trip to the lake this morning and let her have a run in a large area of water.

This is a short clip of her in action:              http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WKiJEOmH-fc

Hi Mike,   first class build , nice little touches , shame the model is not made any more,
see pictures of mine before and after, it was hit by a loony speed boat modeler, went to the botom with all hands.
but manage to salvage hull , built a new top deck using card  from plan and pictures but now lacks details  , but have go at it this winter,
       all the best Larry.......

Lovely Build.

I looked at Model Slipways website and  this kit doesn't seem to be listed. Is it no longer available?...

Nice job Mike, and so quick too.  :-))

Have you actually finished it in your own mind though, or might we be in for a surprise?

Just building one of these as a second project.  Having great fun and have copied a few ideas from this forum.

I like the windows on Larry's boat, are these available to buy or were they made?

I'm also contemplating building the 1/16th scale Tamar as my next project, any views from the forum as to whether a novice could tackle it?

Cheers

Kevin,

No reason why you couldn't tackle it; just take your time and remember the oft repeated maxim 'measure (at least) twice, cut once'.  I built the Model Slipway Trent as my first boat kit having previously made plastic car kits and a couple of multi-media car kits.  So I'd say go for it.

I agree with Pipster. The 1:16 Tamar was my first build and with a lot of thought, hesitation and advice, it provided no real problems ( apart from the bank balance! )  Measure twice, read the instructions again, measure another two or three times, look at as many pictures you can find, scratch your head, ask the wife, contact Model Slipway then go for it. The result is a splendid model with many customised details to the wheelhouse, skegs, keel, pulpit rail and intercom boxes. Took about 750 hours I suppose give or take a month.
