Forest Classics a big thumbs up!

No sure if any of you have dealt with this company before

They are a general live steam shop selling all things live steam from traction engines to executive toys, but do have a nice selection of ceramic burners, steam engine kits etc suitable for model boats

I was bought a Live Steam Showmans Engine kit as a birthday present (Build log to be posted here soon) and as it's my fiirst venture into this sort of thing I had a lot of questions
Emails are replied to quickly and professionally.... even the stupid "where does this bit go?" "Oh it goes the other way round" type of thing"
Might not be the cheapest on the web but the pre and after sales service more than makes up for it.

Excellent service from this company, I recently ordered 2 90 deg. cast elbows, 2 135 degree ones arrived the next morning. A quick phone call and all was sorted, and when I said I would return the parts sent in error, I was told to keep hold of them. The correct parts arrived in due course. Their website is like Aladdin's cave with loads of brilliant miniature engineering stuff from Europe The USA and UK.

Very interesting site.  A pity the Mamod Marine steam engine is no longer produced.  I had one of these in my youth, fixed speed and no reverse, it was extremely powerful though and drove a 3 ft boat quite fast.  I called them, and they said the nearest equivalent was the Willesco marine engines.  Not cheap, but twin cylinder, variable speed and reversable.  Food for thought.

Brand new ones, in box go all the time on ebay.
