Abba  %%   Yes I like Abba

The day before you came..  Classic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Thvf6IxnQg

What did surprise me was that Blancmange did a cover ,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFNs_-LGgQs

Strange thing is some of the lyrics say "There's not, I think, a single episode of dallas that I didn't see " and whats back on TV now Yes Dallas after a 21 years, Just shows you can't keep the best down..

...seeing Nick Lowe with Brinsley S, took me back to the power pop days when he embarked on a solo career, also was an Elvis Costello fan, Stranglers, Pistols, The VIbrators, Yachts (never saw them live) and many good Canadian bands like Rush.

...and Rush with the original drummer, this isnt my high school, but they did play mine...$5 what a deal...

Dear Rem,

Thankyou for the Links.

This is a real 'oldie' that is rarely heard these days. (  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuA-fqKCiAE  )

Regards, Bernard

(Dear Kenny, If you remain of the same mind re this Topic fine, but, if not, and you want to free up Mayhem space, please remove this Topic when/as you see fit. It is after all way off-Mayhem Topic, and all I hope have had a bit of fun with it, but, as a flash in the pan, the Topic will probably quickly become a bit of 'clutter', so maybe best to finish it in a day or two? Regards, Bernard).

                 I thought it was going rather well.     :}

Just one observation.  It might be nice, as there are sooo many posting,  to actually name the song being shown.  That way, we can dip in to our favourites any time. To add my recommendation, may I suggest :-

                         the  SHADOWS FINAL TOUR

All you could possibly want.     8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)

Hullo Ken ....about 15 years ago the Shadows did a tour of OZ ...[I think Hank Marvin now resides in our OZ state of WA]....anyway we attended the concert [I think Hank & Bruce were the only original members]

Toward the end of the show .....Hank asked for a challange request...so me being Derek said bet you cant't remember "tales of a raggy tram line"

Hank said ..."you lost your bet"...& I did  :embarrassed: ...great....Derek

Dear Kenny,

I am pleased you are satisfied to let it run. Since it is a non boat Topic, may I ask if you would take control of it please... proper procedure for an off-Mayhem Topic I feel. You and or other Mods. can thus easily and quickly decide it's future at any time, with everybody knowing the score, and no-one will be offended if the Topic should dissapear.

Regards, Bernard

Thank you Bernard, I've never seen a thread run so fast.  Methinks the members approve.

I don't mind stretching the time scale downwards to the 60's as I seem to have better memories of that period.    8)

Like wot I did with the Shadow's.     ok2

Cheers

Ken

Saw them at a Greasy Truckers Party at the Roundhouse in London, I think it was about 1970, the miners were on strike and there was a power cut mid show....You will also like this then....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzF0AETdRF8

Yes I did like that one.  Saw them quite a few times in the 70s at some great gis but then the magic sort of died a little when Wilko left.  Saw them a couple of years or so back without any original members after Lee's sad passing.  They were on a joint bill with John Otway but it wasnt them at all just a band trading on the name.  But at least Otway was a brilliant as ever.  And still is.  Still treading the boards and still a brilliant gig to go to.

there are so many good groups and musicians out there its hard to pick the best. My favourites include the Canadian group the " Guess Who" out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. They are fronted by Burton Cummings (key board, flute, vocals) and Randy Bachmann (lead guitarist extraordinaire).
From their list I've picked their theme song from 170, "American Woman"

or the 2009 version by the same artists:
