Steve's Canadian Tribal class destroyer
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:19:47 pm »

Via email to Mayhem...

Hi Martin

My friend Steve Martin finally finished his two year build of HMCS Haida, a 1/60 scale model of the iconic Canadian Tribal class
destroyer ( built to 1960 configuration ) . Steve builds only RCN and RN models. I am sure you will agree that it is a stunning
work, I call it " perfection in plastic " The model is powered by a single 800 size motor driving two shafts through a home
made brass gear reduction  apparatus. It is a VERY fast model. The two radars operate at scale speed. Steve has many other
models of the  same quality, Fairmile B and D variants, HMS Warspite, HMCS Ontario ( cruiser ) and  two other destroyers.
Steve uses only CA glue applied with a toothpick and prefers Humbrol paints.

Cheers from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

An unusual scale to model in but I think one of the best detailed warships I have seen and that includes the
museum exhibits.   Absolutely brilliant
