Lifeboat Picture Needed...
« on: September 25, 2012, 12:41:50 pm »

Hi... this might be a bit of a long shot but has anyone got a photo of the inside of the wheelhouse/cabin of Waveney Class 44-020, John Fison? I have pictures of 44-016 but I am sure they are not the same.  Anything would be gratefully received.

Contact the stations that she used to be at, and ask them.....they are probably the best bet, and that was Harwich station.

Hi Lee

Waveney class lifeboat 44-020 'John Fison' was renamed 'Rotary Rescue' at Raglan North Island NZ on 5th December 1999, with aid from Hamilton Rotary Club.
Raglan Volunteer Coastguard operate/d? her; and they are available on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Raglan-Volunteer-Coastguard/313454845368757
It seems likely to me that before and after photos would exist of the refurb.

Regards Dave .......... all info from me on lifeboats should be regarded as dodgy  O0  {-)

I am amazed!  I emailed Harbour Services in Australia, where 44-020 now resides under the name 'Harbour Cruiser'. The operations manager there sent me three photos and said the interior of the wheel house was largely unchanged and he would go over to the boat later and take some more pictures of her for me. .. My faith is humanity is restored, how nice is that?

Australians are generally very nice people and generally very laid back, sunny disposition  O0

..... whereas we live in RAIN RAIN RAIN and I'm getting very uptight about it. Soon we will need some high street lifeboat stations.

Not where I live Lee, but in all the towns within a few miles around - and I wonder how long before it happens here (Huyton Merseyside).

I'm just back from two weeks in Malta. It was raining for days before I flew out and has rained ever since I flew back in - so depressing.

When you come to Canada Dave I will order up the same amount of sunshine we get every year, which is about 300 days where I live. We have had a few showers since June but can't remember when, mostly 23/26c every day. Rain all the time is just depressing.Mick B.

If you email a member on here - "Dan.Lord"

He used to be Harwich crew and was actually building a Metcalfe models version of the fison so he also might have some photos of the things you need!

Not heard from him for a while so not sure if he will respond but certainly worth a shot.
