We have to go to UK next weekend for a while, and will be staying in the Braintree (Essex) area, does anyone know if there are any Model Shops in this area?  Also any places of interest for Boaters  or modellers in general?  Got lots of time to kill there, so will need some cheap places to visit!

I went to school in Braintree and lived most of my junior years in one of the villages just outside Braintree

No decent model shops as such in Braintree itself I'm afraid, nearest decent model shop is Colchester A1 models

Colchester itself is worth visiting as its Englands oldest recorded town

If you are in braintree,you are only approx 1hr / 1 1/2 hr drive away from farcet fen nr. peterborough and there you will find "deans marine".Apart from that,you have cambridge,london,lakeside(shopping centre for the other alf).But that depends if you are driving! baloo
