All Brass Rudder
« on: September 26, 2012, 08:01:18 pm »

I'm wanting to putting a rather large all-brass rudder on my next boat.
The rudder itself needs to be 69mm x 76 mm and the rudder post 140mm overall.

Anyone ever made one up themselves or had one made up for you that was this big ?
??? $$$$  ????

Hi Doug D,
Rudders and posts are quite easy to make, but it would help to know what type of craft it is intended for.
There are quite a few variants, e.g. from yachts to tugs to speedboat etc.

Should be easy enough to make - just use 3mm or 4mm sheet...

It'll be heavy, of course. At some point you will start to think of making up a framework and sheeting it...
