prow badge
« on: October 01, 2012, 03:58:31 pm »

just having a bit of a play today and started making a 1/12 scale prow badge for the model of a friends broads cruiser. the badge is being hand carved out of a piece of sheet pewter (scavanged from an old pewter tankard) using some small metal caving / graving tools.
size wise this is coming in at about 50mm wide by 20mm high

te top two pictures are of course the full size real thing, the bottom is my scale version, still a work in progress needing smoothing and painting.

my painting skills are rusty, there was a time when I could detail a 25mm figure using a single hair to dot in the pupil of the eye, but my hands arent as steady nowadays nor my eyesight so sharp, I need to touch up the blue a little as the white sort of went a bit over the edges.
