Maybe a bit longer methinks, but I am happy to be proved wrong.

Just looked at my viky with a transmitter in front and I would say around threequarters of a metre.

That must be a very narrow door in the picture behind.....

At first look I thought it must have the jib missing, but the mast is too far forward for a bermuda rig I think ???

British origins I would think judging by sail and colour scheme...  :-)

To be honest I'd have a look at the following two sites which are for boats of a similar size and make up a sail out of draughting film based on the dimensions and construction that you'll find there. You can then try it out and make any adjustments that you find necessary before making a final sail....  If you get any problems with the construction as you go, give us a shout and no doubt one of us will be able to help. ...  :-)

http://www.racingsparrow.co.nz/theboat.html  Here I would think you need to look at the RG65 plans...

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to make the jib if I can.

@Nipper:

This boat may not have or need a jib - the mast looks too far forward to be a bermuda rig in my opinion - once you get it you will be able to see if there is a jib fairlead, cannot tell from the photo

It may be a rig more like a Laser, just a single sail with the mast forward of keel but centre of effort roughly in line with leading edge of the keel...

That's a distinct possibility, it's just to me the mast doesn't seem to be quite forward enough to sail with one sail and the configuration wrong but I agree it would be a lot easier to tell with better photos..  I was looking at the photo though and thought that what I've annotated was the jib fairlead....

@ArtistMike

Yes I wondered about that, it does look like a fairlead, but hard to tell as the photo is not clear enough even when enhanced.

What made me wonder was that the mast is stepped a long way forward of the leading edge of the keel fin - with a bermuda rig the mast would be roughly in line with the leading edge I would think. Adding a jib would give it lots of lee helm perhaps?

Also from what you can see of the keel bulb it looks pretty small so if you add a jib it would be very tender in anything but the lightest of wind....

When Nipper gets his boat (which I gather is in transit), hopefully there will be more and better photos to theorise from (grin)
