Not a good idea to post your telephone number on open forum.

As your email is faulty I have substituted the last last three numbers for an alphabet code.  If you think this is unsutable then please let me know and I'll remove it.

Just super glued my thumb and finger together attempting diagonal planking around the stern! This time it really stuck - missing skin on thumb. I think it might be time to start steaming the planks, or maybe try using contact adhesive - any suggestions?
Getting quite close to finishing - photos to come.

One suggestion might be to get a bottle of Super glue remover. Hope you're allright.

Hi all,

Here are my latest build photos:

I've added a a dummy engine, the brushless motor fits in front and underneath, re-modelled the dash (more work to be done) and made one of the seats.
You can see the problems I had planking around the stern (well done spindrift!). Does anyone know of a good mahogany filler or is it sawdust and glue?
After reading the build write up in Marine Modeller International I've decided to fit trim tabs, you can see the control tube on the port stern. Also I made a dummy fuel filler, which is my shaft oiler.

Still loads to do - started thinking about my next build!

I just discovered this thread and registered for the forum. I am the designer of this boat. The boat was designed as a full scale boat, the design was then reduced to make a model. The first model was a 1/4 scale "proof of concept" boat. The design was then drawn as an 1/8th scale boat, Bryant Thompson built the model and wrote an article on it. SG&K Classic Boats is now Stillwater Boat Company. The boat builder/restorer is Steven Gray. Steven is a retired US Army helicopter pilot. The forward part of the hull was lifted from the 1952 Chris Craft 19' Racing Runabout, the aft portion of the boat si all new classic design. The design has undergone some changes. The Chris Craft has very little freeboard, therefore it is a rather wet boat. The original bottom design is very much "old school" flat bottom. That makes for a faster boat when there is limited power available. The flat bottom design makes for a  rough riding boat. The freeboard has been increased and the bottom is now a "Vee" with 22 degrees of deadrise. Full scale CAD plans are available as .pdf files for the 1/4 scale boat.
I have several other model boat designs available in scales from 1/8th to 1/2 scale. The 1/2 scale is of a 21' Chris Craft Cobra.

Hi Quickshift
I enjoyed building the run about very much,
and l hope l have done it some justice.
I have a couple of questions if l may.
Did the full size boat get built, and how many blades
on the propeller.
All yours

Clive,
The full scale boat has not been built, we need to hit the lottery or find a buyer to order one. The boat builder has built a 1/4 scale boat. It has a gas engine with onboard starter. We used the 1/4 scale model to verify the water line location. The full scale boat would most likely carry a 5.7 liter GM V8 engine. I would guess we hould carry a 4 blade prop on that engine. My 30' boats are dwsigned for twin V8 engines. They can carry twin V10 Ilmor engines. If the front cockpit is eliminated on the Great Lakes Racer she can carry 3 engines as large as 700 HP V10 Ilmors. At 2100 HP the boat would not be the thing for the uninitiated. It would definitely be capable of rapidily getting into more trouble than the driver could handle.
