Nellie Irene Fast shallow draft logging tug
« on: October 07, 2012, 08:03:27 pm »

Hi All,
Just a little taster of my latest build the Nellie Irene. The real boat tow's log booms at 3 knots, but when travelling light does 22 knots
I will post photos of build later if any one would like to see the them.

HI Lash151 & Guy,
The model is a semi kit purchased from Gary king & Ron Bruchett in Canada, its a 1/18 scale model of the all aluminium fast shallow draft tug Nellie Irene. The kit comes with a basic plan and lots of photoghraphs, Moulded Fireberglass hull, deck, wheel house & a few fittings such as roof vents, exhaust stacks the rest you have to make yourself.
The model is powered by the Robbe navy geared 3.3.1 running on either 12v 5amp gel cell or 12v 7amp, electronize 30amp speed controller & futaba micro receiver. It has 55mm three bladed brass props from prop-shop . Both Ray & myself are at the same club at Southend and we both like American & Canadian tug boats or unusual tugs. I will post additional pictures this evening.

HI Guy,
I'll speak to my friend Ray about it, as he knows Gary very well. As promised some more pictures. I'll post some more tomorrow.

I apologize for dropping of the face of the earth, Became 1/3 of a company and got bought out and moved to a new house.
Had to re set up to do things.
My main job is Acrylic fabrication, These models became a hobby that happen to pay a bit.
Now that I am on my own now, will try and service you fellows better.
The Nellie Irene was my last tug that I made before this mess all happened, I did not finish the kit nor did i finish my personal model of here .
Ray has had his running for some time now. along with this other fellow in the UK.
There is 2 other models of the Nellie in California USA , Huntington Beach and Riverside these Guys may not be running for sometime.
I have control of most of Ron Burchett's molds.
Some of which went to the Lloyal Hanna Dock yard NY.State USA.
