Weird Problem with Program running on Windows XP
« on: October 17, 2012, 07:06:51 pm »

I post this information on the off-chance that somebody may have come across something
similar and solved it - any clues / ideas forum members could proffer would be gratefully
received.

I have used Coreldraw 9 and Microsoft Office Professional 2003
on Windows XP for some years with no major problems until today !

Suddenly Coreldraw has started misbehaving during startup, it now runs an
Office Professional 2003 configuration program !?

see image :

and eventualyl Coreldraw crashes :

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Coreldraw, which is where I am guessing
the problem lies, without success, and done a repair on Office Professional 2003 -
next step is to uninstall it completely and reinstall although I don't think it will
make any difference.

Any ideas anybody?

Richard

P. S. just had a thought - Corel probably saves its status in a file everytime it is closed down
I wonder if it has got mangled somehow - I shall go and have a scout around....

A friend is still running XP.  It seems to have started going out of its way to misbehave following last months updates.  It now wants him to log on, whereas before it just let him straight in.  Going back to a restore point didn't seem to help much.  Perhaps paranoid, but surely a benevolent, respectable, competent company like MS wouldn't destroy an existing OS just as their new one is coming on the market?

That is a good point about XP updates ... there have been several over the last few days...

I am sure that  a respectable comapany like Microsoft wouldn't nobble an old operating system for financial gain.... ;D
