Hi All, Just posting a picture of the completed Thames barge 'Betty May' sailing close to the wind. A worrying moment. Cheers Graham

We had a Thames barge turn up at the local pond today.
Built by a local modeller, it is a VERY long way from the Thames in Penguin, Tasmania, Australia.
Looks great, sails well.
Picture below, and a couple of minutes of video here:

Hi mrpenquin, Both the model and the video are brilliant thanks for the posting. I am glad to someone else risking sailing with only rudder control it makkes for an exciting day out when the wind gusts. Cheers, Graham

Yup, my first RC sail model was the Emma C. Berry.  Rudder only and yes.... very dicey when the wind would kick up.  No extended keel, just a bunch of lead shot in her bilges.  She was very pretty on the pond though.  Tks for the video link.
Regards,
Dennis
