hi guys great pics of some superb models. i particularly like the missile firing mtb. what would the great unelected (and unwanted!!!!!) health and safety executive make of the missiles are they foam tipped, tethered with at least 200lb breaking strain fishing trace, not allowed to launch before november 5th!! great models though, by the way how far does the missile go when launched??

The missile went about 100 yards then sank no health & safety personal were hurt in this demonstration.
Is that your day van that Hannah is standing next to?
Are you going to the warship day at Kingsbury , i am trying to talk Pointy into going with the grey funnel brigade from Black Park i look forward to sailing with Ark Royal.

hi gary, that is an impressive distance shame you missed the nanny state hse ;D!!!!
yes the dayvan is mine i bought it because me and my wife are foster carers for the local council and the foster children were not allowed in the mustang because it had no seat belts so the car had to go :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
where and when is kingsbury warship day we wouldn't mind coming if we are not doing anything. hannahs ark has been put on hold the last 2 weeks as i have been sorting out the bodywork on my dayvan although hannah has been working on the ships boats and other small bits and pieces so we are getting there slowly!!

Thanks for posting those MCAT

Guys, do you think I should paint the portholes in the hull? If so how? The indentations are there but I'm a bit worried about doing it.

You could use a rotary leather punch to press out the required diameter in Model Technics Trimline Tape (black or dark blue) and stick the discs in the indentations AFTER you have painted the hull. The adhesive is waterproof and you will get a neater glazed  effect than if you paint them. Easier too as you can reposition if necessary before pressing them down. Pic below shows this on a semi scale model of mine.

Hi Mustang & guys
Pointy leave the portholes as they are Eugen's were plated over at this stage in the war e.g after the rineburg operation.
Kingsbury warship day is on Sunday 8th July its grey funnel only.
north bound on the M42 off at J9 take A4097 signposted Water Park.
kingsbury Water Park

Unlikley that I can come :'(

The big German ships did plate their portholes up but as usual Prinz seems to be the exception, there are pictures of her after the war in American hands- all her portholes are open and have air scoops in them- guess she had little if any airconditioning.

Really like the idea of using the leather hole punch thingy and model tape as I could remove it if the result looks crappy.

Dead right, and no risk of getting paint where you don't want it either - pretty much inevitable with all those scuttles.

Huge improvement!

A big thank you to Colin Bishop who's advice was spot on. It looks like a different model now.
And thanks to the guy at the lake who asked me why I hadn't done anything about it yet- to quote hime "I guess RTR makes you lazy!" Thanks for the motivation, I needed it as doing all those portholes almost drove me nuts....
