My Rebuilt RTR Sovremenny
« on: November 01, 2012, 10:07:43 PM »

I rebuilt one of the cheap ready to run 1/200th scale Sovremenny models sold under the name "Smasher" a few years ago. I posted a link to some pictures in another thread on upgrading this model at the time. The picture host I used has closed so I am reposting them here.
I used the White Ensign 1/200th scale 130mm gun turrets and PE sets and scratch built the replenishment at sea rigs and boat handling cranes either side of the funnel, the 2 motor launches, the ASW rocket launchers and chaff launchers on the poop deck. I also made my own transfers using inkjet transfer film.
As a total novice with RC I did not replace any of the RC equipment on the model.

Terrific work Niall.
Boy that must have taken you a while with all those aftermarket fiddly bits I call them haha.
Great job Shipmate.

I can't even tell it was formerly a toy.  :-))

You also conveniently declined to photo the stern area and propellers...  O0 Dead giveaway in that location.
