I'm not sure if this should be here or in the painting section.
Could someone suggest the humbrol colour for the foredeck on my type 81 Tribal. Its a reddish  colour from what i can make out from photos.

Ted I did manage to find one colour pic of Eskimo with a green deck both fore deck and all the other decks
(I use humbrol 88 Matt green) but I think there was another photo of a Tribal with a red deck which would have
been the alternative colour

I went with red for my Tribal as I know when spent a couple of days on Mohawk it was red then, although as Geoff says a lot were green.  I used Revell Reddish Brown.

its the red decked version I'm building ....it looks similar to the anti fouling on the hull, If anyone knows that Humbrol colour. do you know what the number was you used Mike?

I used Humbrol 73 (Wine) for my red foc'stle on HMS Nubian.

just out of interest.... whilst surfing I cam acros a site which seems to show Nubian in 1965 with a completly brown deck

Seems to be reddish brown all over.  Probably all that was left in the Pussers paint store.

I seem to remember using a chipping hammer on the decks of Leopard and after we got down to
bare metal we painted on this sort of chocolate coloured primer before we redid the decks in green
- this looks very similar

That chocalate colour was chocolate admar, it is a strong primer for wet conditions usually used in areas like the chain locker. The Pusser had two types of deck paint in the 60/70s one was green Dado the other was red Dado, but for awhile they used a none skid paint which was literally olive green paint mixed with grit, it was a devil to stir and apply, it was also useless as it allowed water to permetate and breed rust. Then in the 80s they went to two part mix grey paint, which was applied by contractors no longer by matelotes.
