Perhaps this is where things like the Arduino will come into their own - providing the required control panel at the TX, using the available channels from TX to RX as a transmission medium, and another at the RX end to sort out what the signals are and where they should go.  That way, the only limitation on the number of functions is how closely defined those functions need to be.  Perhaps one use for an Arduino type device could be to sort out the simultaneous/sequential output problem to get rid of the compatibility issue with mixers etc.  It is probable that any model needing that many functions is likely to have room for something like that.

Hi all in the know,
I currently use 40MHz FM on the PPM side of life. so all has been sort of fine
Now I do have multi channel requirements, there is one vessel that requires the use of 14 channels to operate fully as I built it.
I have looked at converting to 2.4GHz  and have found that the most I can get to is 12 channel but there is a need to purchase a new transmitter at around the £800.00 mark.
I have even thought about putting a Jeti TU2 & switch conversion into my FX18 but that is apparently no gain as I would only end up with 8 channels on the 2.4 GHz system.
I know that my Transmitter can be changed over form PPM to PCM (the latter I have read to be better at controlling the glitch from high powered EFI) but I dont seem to be able to find much in the way of info regarding receivers for the PCM is it that MY Rec I have will work or do I need to change out those for others and if so is there also PCM decoders to get the additional channels from my set-up.
.
So am I right in that a 2.4 conversion would only give me 8 channels
Do I have to replace all my receivers in the models to get to PCM
Can some pone send a truck load of asprin to cure this B***** head ache.  %%

Thanks for all the info on this thread
but I am still at a loss
My current Transmitter is set to PPM though can be set to PCM, following a confused read I understand I need a PCM receiver in my model if I switch to this mode.
I read that some say the PCM is better than the PPM -------- is this true (I just dont know)
I have modules in my models which allow me the 14 (now 17 channels ) (I tried the switcher idea though this was not totally successful)
If I went to a PCM mode would I need to also change the modules or just the receivers
I do not need a new transmitter as the FX18 is expandable by adding different units (I have two types) one gives me an additional 32 operations four of which are pot controlled two are sliders the others via switches
with the cost for the modules etc and the cost of the transmitter / receivers I just do not want to go the route of another transmitter if you see what I mean.

The transmitter module will only change the band in which the transmitter works, it is very unlikely that any functions would be added.  Any extra functions would need an expansion module to provide them and insert the information into the data stream for transmission.  It follows that the original manufacturer would have had to make the transmitter with that kind of thing in mind, and that kind of forethought rarely comes cheap.  Either that, or, somebody has to come up with clever modules and very good instructions.
