Storslända little Plywood boat
« on: December 01, 2012, 06:21:23 pm »

Hi,

over the summer time my wife Heidi and I were busy building a sailboat for her. It's a design from 1947 by Jac Iversen. I adapted it to mour 1:5 scale and made some cad drawings and CNC-milled frames. Heidi made all the woodworks. I was engaged to make a rigg amd sails and to paint the boat. Two weeks ago was the maiden. Today we were able to sail with a bit more wind. She runs nice and is much stronger against wind than my skerrycruisers. A perfect boat for a beginner.

Here are some pics of today:

The boat is 1,35 m by 38 cm. The weight is about 10 kg. Please watch the video of the maiden on Youtube at:

I hope You enjoy our "Ylva" as Heidi named this little Yacht.

Best Regards

Lothar

That's a lovely little boat Lothar, and built to your usual disgustingly high standard :-))

I guess the hard-chine hull must be quite quick to build compared to your usual boats.  She looks lovely on the water.

Thank You very much

for all Your compliments. I will forward them to my wife. She's really lucky with her boat. Ylva was allowed to stand in our living room over the christmass days. {-) I cannot remember, that one of my boats could stand there for longer than two days... <:(

Some days ago was much more wind over here. So I took Ylva to the lake for another test (my wife took her half hour afternoon nap between 1.00 and 3.00 o'clock) ;)

The result is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLzssH6g3s4

We added some flags and some other small details, now Ylva is well prepared and tested for the sailing season.
