00253 scam
« on: December 04, 2012, 11:08:55 am »

We are getting at least two calls every day from 00253(Djibouti!!?)8020308. Fortunately as we have number display we just don't answer them, but it is a pita. Google research indicates that this is a fake PC fault call, but is there a way of blocking these calls?

Unfortunately, by international agreements, BT are not allowed to block international calls.  That is why most nuisance calls originate from outside the UK to evade TPS laws.
A caller display is essential these days.  Most show up as INTERNATIONAL and NUMBER WITHELD.

Just answer the phone with "XXXX police, cyber crimes division, how can I help?"
