Nope, too many stars and not that kind of flying fish but the ones that might be seen from " ...a slow boat to China, all to myself alone.". always a favourite on "Desert Island Discs"  {-)

Thanks for the eight pages of nostalgia

O0 love it when there's some history attached to a post- I used to deliver bills of lading to/from Turners and P&O
when I was a lad working for The mersey Docks & Harbour Board. Loads of shipping offices in Liverpool back then.
That was  a good flag too :-))

Hey Polaris - are you OK?  One of our aircraft is missing ........ now was that a film or a line from a film?

Easy one to get us going again. In the spirit of the last week, probably found flying over Martin's house....

Not one but two flags... with a special meaning.

I can find US Chaplains Guidons for sale as above......?

My other thought tended towards the merchant marine chaplains but I've not found an example
to confirm or refute the idea.

Not really, then it is a swallow-tailed guidon....

Abbreviated from Wikipedia as relates to the UK - Colours are carried by foot regiments. The standard is the colours-equivalent for the heavy cavalry and the guidon is the equivalent for the light cavalry.

The word guidon is a corruption of the French guyde homme – 'the guide man'

Or

World English Dictionary
guidon  (ˈɡaɪd ə n)

— n
1.    a small pennant, used as a marker or standard, esp by cavalry regiments
2.    the man or vehicle that carries this

[C16: from French, from Old Provençal guidoo,  from guida guide ]
