er that actually happened at our June meeting this year virtually exactly as depicted. Sir Kay rammed broadsides by a fast electric controlled unsupervised by a youngster of 8 or 9 whose father was busy occupied in conversation elsewhere. Sir Kay was holed and sunk. Not a happy sight. Not a happy owner.

my first boat a balsa boat was hit by a small fast thing it sunk very quickly ....with the other boat still jamed inside
it probs cost them more than me there boat filled aswell and am guessing that screwed up there electrics where mine where fine after dw a complete dry and clean and not being used for a while it cost me about a 5 cm square of thicker balsa wich filled the hole
kk
ps sir kay? one of our clubmembers in a display hit one of them it filled and sunk there is a video in the club of it
none of there electrics died either were lucky considering its a club pond sadly i wasnt there when it happend , lucky i wasnt i wouldve been the one" jumping "=being pushed in to go get it

I can remember a similar incident at the round Pond in Kensington Gardens.
The warship sank most realisticaly by the stern.
Not sure if it was ever recovered.
Neither were mine fortunatly.

Oh dear - back to the days of the "Hamlet" cigar advert ... that put much of model boating back into the "idiot toy" bracket!
I personally, would have liked to see the boot of the model in the cap twix the legs of the ginger nutter!
Hopefully, many of the "persons who drive fast boats" would not even run whilst others of "a more sedate nature" were on the lake!!
Stiill, if its in 'humour' somebody must think it's funny

Every now and again they drain the Round Pond and all sorts of casualties are revealed.
It's always a shame when a model is sunk by another. I witnessed this at Beale Park three years ago when a fast model ran over a scale warship which sank instantly in deep water and as far as I know was never recovered. The owner was pretty upset as you might imagine.
Mixing scale and fast competitive boats is never to be recommended and is one reason why I have not run my rather fragile scale models at Mayhem for the last couple of years despite the water being quite shallow.
I think it is a lot easier to build a fast model than to properly comtrol it.

We were always warned not to walk in the Round Pond as it was supposed to have bomb craters in it and no one was sure if there were any live ones there.
Just shows my age!
