So sad - a genuine friend lost.
We had a similar sense of humour and I got to know and like Dicky a great deal.
My most sincere condolences to Gill.
His gift to me was the many hours of fun he put onto my life.  I bet he superglues the lock on the pearly gates - just after he's gone in :-)

he was a mad of magnitude, both in his voice , in what he said, and had the feerless way in which he said and told it and wasn't a man to mince words.....and I greatly admire a man for that........don't pussyfoot about if you know your mind......I liked that in Dicky ( richard).
He was also a man of magnitude in his modelling.......a good modeller and always produced top notch stuff, even through his illnesses to the point where I admired him greatl;y for that to.
Although I sadly never met him I wish I had, for over the conversations I had with him through the internet I fealt that I could have called him a friend....he regularly sent my daughters pictures of the highland cattle grazing and "paddling" in his local sailing lake......he needn't have done but that was his kind nature, even through adversity when others would or could not have been bothered.
he will be missed and I will miss his jokes that he sent me over the airwaves.

R I P richard, YOU WILL BE MISSED, by more than you would ever have thought, and my prayers go to you and your family at this very sad time.
God bless.

Dear All,

I had no idea or knowledge about this... I simply didn't know until seeing this, and I send immediate.

Whilst we crossed swords it was in 'sprited challenge', and I would like to think there was never anything nasty about it. Yes, I recently asked Martin to keep him away from me, and I make this very open, but it was only for the reason of keeping the peace. I had no grudge on the man, and this I now state very plain, and I take back everything... all is irrelevant.

I am very sorry indeed to learn of his passing.

So much done... so much more to do....

This day has left the forum that much the poorer. Dicky was a larger than life character who never failed to share his knowledge, experience and contacts with anyone in need. I doubt if there are any members who have not been helped by him - directly or indirectly. We will also miss his great sense of fun and waspish humour.

My heart goes out to Gill and the rest of the family - it's going to be a really tough Christmas.

A VERY sad day indeed My thoughts are will Gill and the family and ALL his friends.

He was indeed a TRUE character of this forum and as Many have allready admitted to have a ding dong with Richard.YES I for one have had MANY such a ding dong, sometimes he was right and others I was ,but behind the scenes many an Email has been sent between us and both of us have laughed it off.

Mayhem has definatly lost a CHARACTER wich I have NO doubt at all that WE will NEVER be able to replace

RIP Dicky D

Oh dear, a very sad day.
Although I never met him I soon realised that here was a guy who knew what he was talking about. His posts were always worth reading and he will be sorely missed on the forum.
My condolences to his family and loved ones.

RIP Dicky, I trust you will continue building models in a better place.

Whilst our modelling interests didn't align I have much enjoyed Richard's time on Mayhem and exchanged many a cryptic clue on various threads from the google world search to the naming of flags. Thank you for your wit, forthrightness and general good humour.

Condolences to the family.
