Happy Hunter tug
« on: May 12, 2006, 06:15:10 pm »

Having just completed a model of the Happy Hunter tug, (for someone else), I am trying to find some history on the boat. Have searched the net to no avail.   Any ideas or info please.   Pete M

Hello . Is this ship appropriate for a new tug boat builder ? I saw the photos of it on the main page of Mayhem and I'm impressed . I want to build it with purchasing a Robbe kit . How are the parts coming with the kit ? Are they (such as hull)  pre cutted and trimmed or do I have to cut them like other Robbe kits ? Thank you .

ESKISERKAN,  Hi.  Are you a beginner, or just new to tugs?   If you are a novice, this certainly is not the kit for you.   The hull is preformed and we had no real problems with that, everything else was marked out on sheets of plasticard, but had to be cut out, and these were not always a good fit.   Remember that this kit was over 20 years old, so the new one supposedly being brought out by Robbe may be better.   Just as a matter of interest, the model took my son and myself 248 hours to complete.   If you do decide to risk it, let me know if you encounter any problems.   Peter M.
