Two trawlers crossing Grey River bar NZ in horrific conditions
« on: January 10, 2013, 09:54:18 am »

A friend sent me this video clip of two NZ trawlers in incredible seas trying to cross the Grey River bar. Amazingly I believe the two trawlers made it safely into port.

Jim.

Stupid is the term I'd use! No wonder the fishing industry looses so many every year.
As so called professionals, surely common sense says wait rather than risk it and take a chance?

Anyway, I'm sure it all looks alot more dramatic than it actually was with depth of field and zooming in issues on the camera exaggerating things.

The guy at the start didn't seem to be wearing any buoyancy aids either.  %%
