MICK B IRISHCARGUY out of hospital !
« on: January 15, 2013, 11:07:49 pm »

Hi All,
I have just been informed that  member Mick B (irishcarguy) has suffered another stroke, and is in hospital. He is doing fairly well, but has lost the use of his fingers on his left hand, and unfortunately,he is left handed. He will be out of action for a while.
I am sure you will join me in wishing him all the best for a good recovery, and send our support to Phyll, his dear wife.
Thanks,
Mick F

My info tonight is that his hand is affected but his wife mentioned none of the 'expected' issues we think of whenever we hear 'stroke'. He is in hospital which is the best place he can be just now. He can be assured of our thoughts and best wishes.

He has recently sent me a CV joint he has been enthusiastically developing and modifying. In all our conversations it was clear to me that Mick was doing it on 'our' behalf as Mayhemmers. I am having difficulty posting pictures but Pettyofficernick has kindly offered to post them if I start a new thread. I'll do that and I hope you look in and see what Mick has come up with for us.

Nothing to see until Nick adds the pictures tomorrow.

Dave... And as I said above Mick always talked about this in terms of 'for the members'

Hi guys
Micks wife has sent a pm. I don't think she would mind it being posted openly and as it explains Mick's dilema ....

Thank you all for your thoughts and good wishes for Mick.  He needs surgery to clear the blockage in the artery in his neck that caused the stroke.  The usual way to do this is to inject a dye into his bloodstream and use technology to see exactly where the blockage is and thus put the stint in directly.  The problem for Mick is that due to the medication he was taking for his gout, he has poor kidneys.  The dye would be too much for them to take and he would end up on dialysis for the rest of his life.  Fix one problem, create another.  Right now the surgeons are trying to decide the best approach to take.  Mick also has a blockage in the arteries on his heart, so the solution will be quite complex.  All needs to be resolved so that there are no re-occurences of stroke or heart attack.  No date on surgery as yet.  Thanks again for all of your good wishes, I will pass them on to Mick.  He misses you guys, too, so take care of yourselves, too!

So from reading that we can all see Mick has a way to go yet; what I can say is he is not the type of guy to give up the struggle so onwards and upwards Mick!!!
