As 68 says the working days on these scallop dredgers is hellish lol , sometimes hauling the dredges every hour and working 20-22 hour days for a week at a time on the bigger boats !!!
There are a fair amount of these boats in the NE but you only see them in the summertime. Like the old Herring drifters did these boats work around the entire UK. Summertime they fish from Gourdon ( south of Aberdeen ) to Shetland. Autumn they fish the West Coast into the Irish Sea. They overwinter fishing down in the Channel and in the spring they work up the East Coast of England.
