Crazy Propeller Idea
« on: February 14, 2013, 08:25:18 am »

Hiya All,

Now after careful investigation of the three blade set up on the 63ft BPB Whaleback i have come to suspect that the prop shafts are in fact all exposed Shafts running through P tubes. Can someone confirm this for me, and if its the truth where do i get 300mm shafts from that are M2 as anything of a bigger diameter would be ridiculousy out of scale. I need a shaft i can cut the outer tube down on really. Oh yeah I will also require LH and RH props in M2 ....  I just seem to not be able to find a supplier for M2..

Hi coastal give Jim Lane a phone call he will make them any size you want.
He makes all of my props and shafts doesn’t ask for silly money either. His number is  --removed--

If you don’t get an answer just leave him a message and he will get back to you.

Best not put anyone's phone No. on an open forum. There is lots of malicious software trawling the web and particularly forums, looking for email and phone no.s.

Thanks Martin... Scarily i had just placed an order with them before I saw your post ! thankyou all. I am going to use 2mm shafts ( brought 12 inch shafts ). Then comes the job of cutting them back a bit and adding the P frames which i will have to make up i expect. hopefully i can seat them into the hull enough to look correct. Think ive got some soldering to do ! and build a box in the hull for each shaft... then i will put an outer cover over each shaft exit so it looks correct. all in my pursuit of scale realism... :)
