Tamar Wheelhouse interior
« on: January 21, 2013, 09:13:42 pm »

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help.

I'm trying to work out how the frame behind the cox's seat (centre front) attaches to the seat base.  The frame appears to be tilted back, so is the back of the seat base angled to match or is it more complicated?

Any pointers much appreciated.

The centre seat is fitted to the back frame in a very similar way to two side seats but the support frame goes to the roof.
Hope these pics make things clearer to you.

Hi Mike,
That's excellent thank you.  So, just to get it clear in my head, is the white support frame vertical?  It's just my RNLI plans show is angled backwards and parallel to the front part of the support frame - so are the plans wrong?

The plans are correct. The white frame angles backwards. This picture of the roof fixing shows the rear slope of the frame.

Cheers Mike, you've certainly got a photo for every question!
Sorry to be a pain, but does the white frame stay at the same angle all the way to the floor?  It looks like it's bolted to the Cox's seat base so is the back of the base angled too?

This is the only other picture I have showing the base of the white frame.

Many thanks Mike you've been a great help.  I reckon the the frame is vertical at the base and then bends backwards.
Cheers

Who sits to port & starboard (left & right) of the centre seat and what do they do?

Sorry, as a mersey man, coxswain sits on port side and radar operator on starboard side. Dungeon hatch (to engine room) is in centre to throw mechanic down when he misbehaves %%

Then again, with sims, I suppose all locations are now interchangeable - apart from helm seat

The Cox'n and Helm positions are the ones that can steer the boat as they have joysticks fixed in the end of a seat arm.

Scan of the Internal GA drawing showing who sits where.

%%  I'm sure it will be fun to steer the boat with a joystick.  Will be interesting to see what the trial Shannon is like when it comes to our station (fingers crossed  {:-{ ) as I gather it is joystick inside but normal wheel in Upper Steering Position.

First, apologies for bumping the topic, but I've (hopefully) finished the wheelhouse interior 'tray' for my 1:16 Tamar.  Lots of head scratching and scratch building but I'm pretty pleased with the results even though they're not perfect.  So, I thought I'd post some piccies.  Thanks to all those who helped with photos.
