Hi, im Mark new on here and just wanted to tell other forum members about my likes. I basically enjoy building model boats from scratch and roughly to scale. I dont realy like building from plans i enjoy fault finding with my designs etc.... I have built a roughly 1:72 scale model of HMS Richmond as i used to serve on it. I built it out of ply but with a flat bottom, small keel and slab sides, didnt sail very well! Maiden voyage in the local pond ended with a steering gear failure and a deliberate crash into some nearby reeds to rescue it!!!!
So i am now building a double mast yacht of my own creation using planking and fibre glass, hopefully this should sail better! Any tips or hints would be appreciated! Or stories of your own?! Thanks.
Mark
