Programming card to set up an ESC
« on: February 06, 2013, 11:49:05 am »

I told that it is much easier to use a programming card to set up an ESC for a brushless motor.........
Looking around I see that there are umpteen different programming cards, each one for a different make of ESC and very occasionally suitable for a couple or so different ESC's.
Why cannot/will not one programming card be suitable for any make of ESC for a brushless motor?
Which then raises the question - What is the default setting of any ESC - 2S maybe?

no, it depends on the Speed controller, just like the prog card. some ESC won't even work on 2S (the one in my Heli is a minimum of 6S)

Because there is no standard for size or shape of connection, or for the signals, or even the coding involved, since all manufacturers are keen to use their own ideas both to reduce their costs and to avoid copyright litigation.  For the latter, just look at the ongoing childishness between Apple and Samsung.
